Overview
Pikey Peak Trek is a short yet very popular trek in the Khumbu region. Named after Pikey Peak (4068m), the Pikey trail starts either at Jiri or Bhandar and ends at Phaplu. The route also can be extend continue to Lukla for Everest trek. Pikey peak trekking offer magnificent views of the highest Himalayan peaks including Mt. Everest, Makalu, Ama Dablam and Lhotse.
According to Sherpa community, Pikey is locally called by the title of ‘Pikey Hlapchen Karbu’ and Chaybu Pikey in short. The mountain is regarded as the clan god by the locals. The Sherpas observe special worshipping ceremony during the month of July.
You will be able to experience world famous hospitality of Sherpa people, learn their culture and experience the highland nature. The trek is graded easy and is suitable for all ages of travelers.
Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu
Day 2: Drive from KTM to Shivalaya or Bhandar
We will drive to Shivalaya or Bhandar approx. 6/8 hours. The road is same upto Charikot and will drive right side from Charikot to Jiri/Shivalaya.
Overnight at Guest House.
Day 3: Trek to Deurali - overnight in lodge
Day 4: Trek to Goli Gumpa. overnight at Lodge
Day 6: Trek to Pikey Base Camp
Day 7: Trek to Jasebhanjyang via Pikey peak (4068m.)
Pikey peak (4068m.) is a one of the tallest" Hills" in Solu. The name Pikey is derived from the name of a Sherpa Clan deity. During the month of July the locals hold different celebrations to worship their clan god. This peak offers a majestic view of the Everest Himalayan Range and Numbur Chuli.
Day 9: Explore day around Junbesi
We will explore ancient monastery in Junbesi area.
Day 12: Drive by private Jeep (9/10hr) or Fly (35 minute) back to Kathmandu
Day 13: Free days in Kathmandu or Departure
